From 1 July 2016 the Valuation Tribunal has been carrying out a six-month pilot in which the disclosure and exchange of evidence process before a hearing is significantly different. The final pilot hearing is scheduled to take place on 21 December after which a full evaluation will be undertaken to review success criteria and assess the potential for a wider roll out. To avoid unnecessary changes ahead of the formal evaluation recommendations it has been decided to extend the pilot arrangements in Kent and Leicestershire for hearing dates in January, February and March 2017.

The aim is to encourage greater engagement of the parties. If you have an appeal in one of the billing authorities shown below and your appeal is listed during this period, you will receive a new Standard Direction with the Hearing Notice. It is shown here, with some guidance and a flowchart. Please read these documents and get in touch with us if you have any questions.

Please note that Practice Statement B5 (Listed appeals where the parties have reached agreement) has been suspended for the appeals concerned during this period.
